Kimchi for Breakfast's 100th POST! Woop WOOP!

Today is the 100th post of this ol' blog and we're celebrating!  At first I wasn't really sure about starting a blog, and I really only did it to update our family, but after 100 posts I can say that now I really enjoy it.  Danny and I never really thought we would make it this far, but here we are... we survived 711 days of this crazy Korean life, and Kimchi for Breakfast is all about that journey!

To celebrate post #100, we are doing a GIVEAWAY!  We are giving away 2 prizes next week to 2 randomly chosen people!

Yes, that's right you could be the lucky owner of a Bibimbacon shirt ...get it bibimbap...bibimBACON...get it? (Made by yours truly and will come in the size of your choice)...

Or of an original "Korea" artwork done by yours truly (you'll see the final one next week)...

Here's how you enter:

Step 1:  I want to spread the news of this blog, so to enter you have to leave a comment at the end of this post in the "comments section".  Let us know what's the craziest food you've ever eaten (Korean or otherwise) OR just say hi...either is ok.

Step 2:  In addition to leaving a comment, you need to post on Twitter or Facebook that you just registered for this giveaway.  (Please copy and paste the following words: I just register for a free GIVEAWAY on Kimchi for Breakfast, http://www.katyanddanny.blogspot.com/, and you should too!  Go and check it out!)

Step 3:  If you would like to have more then one entry, you can leave additional comments below, but then you also must specifically tell 2 people about our blog.  It's as simple as THAT!

I'm hoping in doing that, Kimchi for Breakfast will spread across the globe, and then Danny and I will be offered Travel Channel jobs, and then we will be bbillionaires, and then we will be the most loved couple in all the world, and then we will help find a cure to cancer, and then we will be able to live off our riches and die happy, in love and full of delicious food!  Whoa, I got a little out of hand there...sorry.

The winners will be announced next week so make sure and check back to see if you are the lucky winner!  Good luck to you all and spread the word!

  1. WOW! First comment! I have to get a prize for that right? I love you guys so much and have loved reading about your adventures in Korea! I miss you guys and can't wait to see you again. The craziest thing that I have ever eaten is a tie between Curried Lambs Brain at a buffet in Thailand and Sting Ray in Singapore (sting ray makes your lips go numb when you eat it cus there is a mild poison in the skin). Love Hunter!

  2. Congrats on your 100th post! We've enjoyed every single one, as we've traveled the Kimchi journey with you! We can't wait to see your smiling faces and hug-a-bug (Robb especially ... heehee)!! Lily looks forward to seeing her Auntie and Uncle all the time, so get ready for some jungle gym, serious playing!! Craziest thing I think I have ever eaten is octopus...for the record, I did not like it at all. It was too rubbery for this pallet!! Love you guys! ooxx

  4. Hi guys! Melissa fills me in on all of your adventures, but I really should have you in my Google Reader too -- so it's done. I'm on board. Fun giveaway! Let's see, craziest thing I've had? Probably sweetbreads or bone marrow on toast, on an adventurous foodie adventure in Portland (pre-gluten-free). My guy will try pretty much anything, so we are outside the box often. Kudos to you on your 100th post!!!

  5. Hi guys! Wow, we have a range of weird foods (being from South Africa and all...)! I'm entering this competition on behalf of Winston since he's tasted the weirdest food between the two of us. The weirdest would probably be stewed lambs brain, bulls testicles and cooked lambs blood; also add to that sheep lips and ears! After having. Typed all those things I'm seriously reconsidering kissing this guy again! Hahaha! Congrats on your 100th post guys! Love, Jacky

  6. WOO HOO!!! Your blog is DEFINITELY around the world! I love it! Yay for a giveaway!! (so fun, so you!) Well I THOUGHT I was super original with having eaten scrambled goat's brains and it's roasted ears, but it seems like everyone else has, too! How about fried grasshoppers (that I caught live, by hand, with Rwandans), worm tacos (Mexico), or southern style frog legs?

  7. YAY - well here is the winning comment!!! Craziest thing I've eaten: Scorpions, Sting ray, mud fish and maybe not the craziest but by far the most disgusting tasting thing I've ever eaten - sea squirts.

  8. I think the craziest thing I've ever eaten was boiled dog when I was in Kenya. I also just ate a Chinese wedding banquet last weekend and had abalone, sea cucumber, and shark fin soup. Remember me when you're famous!

  9. Hellllerrrr! The grossest things I've ever eaten were a caterpillar in Africa and bonddegi in Korea. Bleh! So, I haven't been too adventurous with my food. But I always say: "I'll try anything once!" : )

  10. Whoops, commented on the wrong post. Steamed dog and "feet soup" in Korea were pretty crazy for me. It was dwenjong chigae on crack, and although I don't remember the name, I do remember the sinking feeling in my stomach when we walked into the restaurant. Also, a bacon plate: crazy awesome.

  11. This seems way too hard. I don't understand all of this "post" talk. What does that even mean? Can't wait to have you home. Katy...I think you need to write a book about your adventures with excerpts from your posts...you are a talented writer my friend. I have friends in the publishing world :). Cherish your last month there, but praying it goes quickly. ~Chelsea Kay

  12. Hi. I ate a live grasshopper once. I think it was a dare, probably by my older brother.

  14. Yay! You guys rock! I guess I've been kind of boring with my food . . . the craziest was pig skin . . . it was super rubbery and oily, not disgusting though. Oh, and the most fun was banana beer :)
